Clunking Sound Under The Bonnet

Clunking Sound Under The Bonnet

Oh, you’re driving along and there’s an awful rattle coming from the front of your car…

Not all noises are terminal! Sometimes it can be something simple, such as a loose cover or a cap not secured properly.

There are a few things to note / do

  • Note what you were doing at the time
  • Check your oil temperature / coolant temperature (if they are high, pull over safely and turn off the engine and open the bonnet to let the engine cool)
  • Check your oil level. Is it within the manufacturers recommendations? These can be found in your owners manual. Not all cars have the traditional dipstick!
  • If it sounds really bad, pull over and call for roadside assistance. Do not attempt to move the vehicle

It’s always better to be safer than sorry!
